The following description is hand-written on the back of the paper: For the place, see Avocado, California. For the music album, see Pearl Jam (album). Persea americana, or the avocado, is believed to have originated in the state of Puebla, Mexico, though fossil evidence suggests similar species were much more widespread millions of years ago, occurring as far north as California at a time when the climate of that region was more hospitable to them. The fruit has a markedly higher fat content than most other fruit, mostly monounsaturated fat, and as such serves as an important staple in the diet of various groups where access to other fatty foods is limited. This work is on heavyweight paper and will need a frame for display.
